CANNABIS EQUITY RELIEF FUND (CERF)

2022 CERF APPLICATION PERIOD IS OPEN!

It’s been difficult for Black + Brown people to meaningfully participate in the legal cannabis industry- historically faced with high rates of criminalization during prohibition. In cities with Cannabis Equity Programs like Oakland and San Francisco, there are higher percentages of Black and Brown cannabis business ownership than anywhere in the country, but are still struggling to access capital and affordable real estate that would help our businesses thrive in the same way that the 81% white owned cannabis businesses are thriving.

CERF was created in 2020 during the uprisings sparked by the murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis Police. Many of the cannabis businesses in the Bay Area were robbed & burglarized by organized thieves and looters. Our BIPOC & equity cannabis businesses were hit hard when many of them were struggling to stabilize to begin with.

This fund is a direct response to losses suffered by Black + Brown licensed cannabis businesses, as they have lost hundreds of thousands of dollars in property damages and product losses. Insurance will not cover most losses.
